Google+ Unveils Redesign for Mobile Web

Less than a week after Google+ unveiled a redesign for desktop, the social network is also getting overhauled on the mobile web. In a post on its official G+ page Tuesday, the service said that posts now appear as "cards" in the stream, making them easier to read, +1 and re-share. What's more, Profiles and Pages now include cover photos and larger "tap targets," the blog post revealed.

Nutella Sends Cease-and-Desist Letter to Its Biggest Fan

Nutella, the chocolate hazelnut spread brand, has soured many of its social media fans by cracking down on a superfan who has helped spread the word in social media for more than seven years. Ferrero SpA, the Italian owner of Nutella, has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Sara Rosso, the creator of the 7-year-old World Nutella Day. On Ferrero's orders, Rosso is pulling the plug on the holiday, which had been celebrated on Feb.

It's Time to Change Mashable's Twitter Profile Picture

In July 2005, I created Mashable.com on a WordPress blog. In 2007, I created the @mashable Twitter account. In the beginning it was a feed of my personal thoughts and actions. Mainly, I was posting what I was having for lunch. But when I started sharing links to Mashable articles, I saw real engagement. Quickly, it evolved from my personal stream to the Mashable account that more than 3 million of our readers now follow.

Google to Retire Checkout in November 2013

Google will retire its payment processing service, Google Checkout, on November 20, 2013, as part of a transition to its multi-platform payment system — Google Wallet. Checkout was launched in June 2006, as an alternative to PayPal. Initially free, the service was gradually moved to a tiered cost structure, similar to PayPal's. Google explains what the retirement means for Checkout merchants, Google Play developers and users in a blog post.
