Facebook 'Compliments' Pages Promote Positivity on College Campuses

Last fall, a new Internet craze hit college campuses: Facebook 'Compliments' pages. Four students at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, started a Facebook profile called Queens U Compliments. They encouraged fellow classmates to anonymously submit compliments about members of the university, which were then posted to the profile to be viewed publicly.

What you say on Facebook could land you in jail. That's the tough lesson that a Texas teenager learned in February, when an online argument with a friend led to his arrest. He's now awaiting trial and faces eight years in prison. Everything started when the teenager, Justin Carter, then 18, was playing an online game of "League of Legends." After the match, Carter and a friend got into a heated argument on Facebook.

Security Researcher Earns $20,000 for Uncovering Major Facebook Bug

A British security researcher recently uncovered a bug allowing him to take over someone else's Facebook account via text message, a vulnerability that could have compromised millions of profiles. The researcher reported it to Facebook and earned a $20,000 reward from the company. Jack Whitton, an application security engineer who also works as a security researcher in his spare time, discovered the bug on May 23.
